SVXLINK requires a relatively low cost computer with LINUX installed. An older PC at 300 MHz with 512MB RAM Soundboard and a 10GB drive should be sufficient. It was originally developed on RED HAT the Fedora Project, however will install and operate on several other LINUX operating systems. These include, but are not limited to, Fedora, Suse, Debian and Ubuntu. The installation is easiest with the Fedora system since the application comes packaged in an RPM. A little more effort is required to compile and install the SVXLINK on Ubuntu or others. My personal preference is the Ubuntu package since I believe this Operating System package is the easiest to install and has excellent support. As with everything, some people may disagree and this statement is merely depending on how comfortable one is with the Documentation pages. |
